Closure of Dig Discover Enjoy

This is to announce the closure of Dig Discover Enjoy.

We'd like to thank everyone that has supported us from the very start; particularly Carolanne King, Clare Pye, Ellen McInnes, Peter Lange and Kevin Wright for their advice and encouragement. Thanks to our amazing volunteers Jamie Skuse, Carolanne King, Ellen McInnes, Clare Pye, Darren Bentham and Jenny Dean for your hard work and never ending enthusiasm.
We're very proud of all that we have achieved, from provision of training courses linked to the Archaeology Skills Passport, development opportunities for our volunteers, family fun days, information events and archaeological advocacy to digs and activities specially designed for children with autism and other special educational needs. Our website has a wealth of information on how to make archaeology accessible for all and this will remain available for the next few weeks.
We've had great fun and learnt so much working with children, families, schools, universities, professionals and volunteers.
Thanks also to the thousands of people across the world who have followed and interacted with us on Twitter and Facebook, we have loved being part of those communities and sharing our love of archaeology and heritage with you all.
We're very proud of all that we've provided and achieved, especially as it has been designed and delivered outside our demanding day jobs and without any income. We got by largely on enthusiasm, determination, the generosity of others and the occasional small amount of funding.
We still believe there is a need for advocacy, provision of information (on everything from career routes to armchair archaeology) and encouraging the sector to be truly inclusive. Without funding and with limited time at our disposal we feel it is too demanding to continue. We would love to but we have to be realistic.
We'll remain involved in archaeology as volunteers and will happily share our experience and knowledge with anyone that needs it.
Miranda and Andrea
